How to structure your course with chapters and lessons

Understand the course structure
Courses are organized hierarchically:
Course

Add chapters
Create a new chapter
- Open the course in edit mode
- Click “Add chapter” or ”+”
- Enter a chapter title
- Optional: add a description
- Click “Save”
Name chapters
Good chapter titles are:
- Short and precise: “Introduction”, “Workplace safety”
- Numbered: “1. Basics”, “2. Advanced techniques”
- Topic-based: Describes the content of the chapter
Add lessons
Create a new lesson
- In the desired chapter, click “Add lesson”
- Select the lesson type
- Enter a title
- Click “Create”
Lesson types

Edit content
Text editor
The text editor offers:
- Formatting: Bold, italic, underlined
- Headings: H2, H3, H4
- Lists: Bulleted and numbered lists
- Links: Links to external pages
- Images: Insert and position images
- Tables: Present structured data
Insert images
- Click the image icon in the editor
- Upload an image or choose one from the library
- Adjust the size
- Add alternative text
Embed videos
- Create a video lesson
- Upload the video or add a link
- The video is embedded automatically

Change the order
Sort chapters
- Hold the drag handle (⋮⋮)
- Drag the chapter to the new position
- Release to confirm
Sort lessons
Use the same process within a chapter:
- Hold the drag handle
- Drag the lesson up or down
- Release to save
Edit chapters and lessons
Change titles
- Click the title of the chapter or lesson
- Edit the text
- Click outside the field or press Enter
Edit content
- Click the lesson
- The editor opens
- Make your changes
- Click “Save”
Delete chapters and lessons
Delete a lesson
- Click ”…” next to the lesson
- Select “Delete”
- Confirm
Delete a chapter
- Click ”…” next to the chapter
- Select “Delete”
- All included lessons are deleted as well
Warning: Deleted content cannot be restored.

- Logical progression: From simple to complex
- Short lessons: 5-15 minutes per lesson
- Variety: Mix text, video, and quizzes
